8th Death Anniversary of Former Whip Syed Wahidul Alam Commemorated in Hathazari

Hathazari: The eighth death anniversary of Syed Wahidul Alam, a former Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad, a prominent senior BNP member, and a repeatedly elected Member of Parliament from the Chattogram-5 (Hathazari-Bayezid) constituency, was observed on Wednesday. A well-regarded figure in both national and regional politics, Syed Wahidul Alam was known for his roles as an advisor to the BNP Chairperson and as the convener of the Chattogram City BNP.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, over his extensive political career, Syed Wahidul Alam gained a reputation for integrity, leadership, and engagement with grassroots movements, earning him trust among residents of Hathazari and the broader Chattogram region. In commemoration of his anniversary, his daughter, Barrister Sakila Farzana, a Member of Parliament for a reserved women’s seat, organized a Khatme Quran and Doa Mahfil on behalf of the family.



Family members, along with political figures, visited the late leader’s grave in the Laliarhat area along the Chattogram-Hathazari road to honor his memory. Special prayers were conducted, seeking eternal peace and forgiveness for his soul.



The event attracted a significant number of leaders and activists from various levels of the party and its affiliates, including the Hathazari Upazila BNP, Poursava BNP, and Bayezid Thana BNP. Speaking at the occasion, Barrister Sakila Farzana remarked, “My father Syed Wahidul Alam was a true leader of the people. Transcending political ideologies, he consistently prioritized regional development and the welfare of citizens. His principles and dedicated life will continue to serve as an inspiration for future generations.”
