Gaibandha: The holy Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest religious festival for Muslims, is being celebrated across all seven upazilas in Gaibandha district today, marked by religious fervor, gaiety, solemnity, and a spirit of sacrifice. In the morning, crowds of people of all ages gathered at the nearest eidgahs, mosques, and designated open spaces to offer their Eid prayers.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the main Eid congregation was organized at Boro Masjid in the town by the district administration. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Masudur Rahman Mollah, along with senior district officials, political party leaders, town elites, professionals, and journalists, participated in the congregation. DC Mohammad Masudur Rahman Mollah welcomed the devotees at the mosque entrance, exchanging Eid greetings. He emphasized the relentless efforts of the district administration officials to advance the district’s development and sought the cooperation of Gaibandha’s residents to achieve these goals.
Additional Eid congregations took place at various locations, including Gaibandha Police Lines, Gausul Azam Eidgah, Al-Falah Jame Mosque, and several other mosques and grounds throughout the town. Thousands of worshippers offered special prayers, seeking divine blessings, eternal peace for departed souls, and continued peace, progress, and prosperity for the country and the Muslim Ummah. They embraced each other with the traditional greeting, “Eid-Mubarak.”
Following the prayers, Muslim devotees carried out the ritual sacrifice of thousands of animals, including cows, goats, sheep, and buffalos, at their homes and designated places in the district town, in remembrance of the supreme sacrifice made by Hazrat Ibrahim (AS). Special and improved meals were provided to inmates of the local jail and various hospitals, Shishuv Paribars, and orphans in the district during this holy occasion.
RAB, police, and other law enforcement agencies, including scouts, were deployed throughout the district to ensure the peaceful celebration of Eid-ul-Azha.
