Hakimpur: Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain today emphasized that no perpetrators of child or women abuse should be given shelter or leniency, branding them as enemies of society.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister made these remarks while distributing assistance and cheques to destitute, helpless, sick, disabled people, and poor students at the Hakimpur Upazila Parishad auditorium. He stated, “The government will not tolerate any form of child abuse or violence against women. No support should be given to the perpetrator of child or women abuse. They will not be spared under any circumstances.”
He further assured that the present government has implemented very strict measures against incidents of child and women abuse. Law enforcement agencies have been instructed not to show any leniency towards drug offenders, perpetrators of child and women abuse, and eve-teasers.
Additionally, the minister highlighted that a significant amount of crops had been damaged by recent cyclones. He assured that the government would provide assistance within its capacity to those affected.
The event, presided over by Hakimpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tanjila Khatun, saw the distribution of 10 kilograms of rice to each of 400 families and cheques to students from 10 poor families. Other notable attendees included Hakimpur Upazila Social Service Officer Md Sohel Rana, Hakimpur Upazila BNP President Md Ferdousur Rahman, and General Secretary Md Sakhawat Hossain Shilpi.
