Naogaon: The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), District Police, and bKash have organized awareness workshops in the districts of Naogaon, Natore, and Dinajpur to enhance the security of daily transactions conducted through mobile financial services (MFS).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this initiative is part of a series of efforts aimed at curtailing the misuse of MFS in criminal activities. The workshops provided insights into how law enforcement can use transactional data to identify and apprehend criminal gangs.
Recently, bKash conducted three separate day-long workshops titled 'Investigation and Prevention of Mobile Financial Services Misuse' at PBI Natore, Naogaon District Police, and Dinajpur Police Lines In-Service Training Centre. These sessions were attended by approximately 140 investigation officers from the District Police and PBI. To date, around 4,500 investigation officers from various law enforcement agencies have participated in similar workshops organized by bKash across different districts.
PBI Natore Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman, Naogaon District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Tariqul Islam, and Dinajpur District Superintendent of Police Md. Zedan Al Musa, PPM, served as the chief guests at the workshops. Representing bKash, EVP and Head of External Affairs Major AKM Monirul Karim (Retd.) was also present.
The workshops included discussions on utilizing technology to recover lost funds, monitoring digital transactions to prevent crimes such as kidnapping, and improving communication between investigators and bKash. The sessions also highlighted protocols to be followed immediately after a criminal incident occurs.
The digital nature of transactions enables each one to be monitored and tracked, facilitating accurate investigations by entities like the Police, DB, CID, and PBI. Since 2017, bKash has been consistently organizing workshops titled 'Investigation and Prevention of Mobile Financial Services Misuse' in collaboration with different stakeholders.
