Rajshahi: Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu emphasized the importance of sports in shaping the future of the younger generation during the closing ceremony of the divisional-level Primary School Gold Cup Football Tournament at the Rajshahi Women’s Sports Complex.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Minister Minu highlighted the government’s efforts to enhance sports infrastructure in Rajshahi, aiming to restore the city’s esteemed status in the sports arena. He announced plans to reinstall floodlights at the Rajshahi Divisional Stadium, which were removed by a previous administration, as a part of the initiative to attract international-standard football and cricket tournaments, including BPL matches and games featuring foreign Test teams.
Minister Minu underscored the role of sports in instilling discipline and ambition among the youth, urging them to cultivate their talents and leadership skills through athletics. He assured that the government would provide continuous financial and administrative support to facilitate major sporting events, thus nurturing future athletes at the national level with the help of BKSP in Rajshahi.
The ceremony was presided over by Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Dr. ANM Bazlur Rashid and attended by distinguished guests, including Shafiqul Haque Milon, MP, and various local officials. The event concluded with Minister Minu awarding prizes to the tournament winners, marking a celebratory end to the initiative aimed at boosting sports in Rajshahi.
