Four Arrested in Barishal Following Attack on Police During Drug Raid

Barishal: Four people were arrested after an attack on members of the District Detective Branch (DB) police during a drug recovery operation in Wazirpur Upazila of Barishal District on Friday. The incident took place at the Khayaghat area of Wazirpur Municipality.



According to United News of Bangladesh, the arrested individuals are Shamim Molla, Munsur Molla, Alauddin, and Arif Molla. All of them are residents of the Hanuya area in Wazirpur Upazila. Police reported that the Barishal District DB conducted a raid in the Khayaghat area as part of a drive to recover illegal drugs. During the operation, a group of people obstructed police duties, leading to an altercation and scuffle between DB members and locals.



The confrontation resulted in DB constable Mrinal being attacked by the group, leaving him seriously injured on the head. Upon receiving information about the incident, members of Wazirpur Model Police Station rushed to the scene and rescued the injured constable. He was later admitted to Wazirpur Upazila Health Complex for treatment.



Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Wazirpur Model Police Station, Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, stated that preparations are underway to file a case over the attack on police personnel.
