Dhaka: Yeijer Shoe Parts (BD) Ltd., a collaborative venture between Samoa and China (Taiwan), has entered into a land lease agreement with the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) to initiate a footwear and accessories manufacturing unit in the Cumilla Export Processing Zone (EPZ). The company has committed an investment of US$ 5.03 million to facilitate the production of components such as insoles, outsoles, midsoles, and PU shoes.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the agreement signing took place recently at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka, with Md. Tanvir Hossain, Executive Director (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA, and Xia Ruihong, Managing Director of Yeijer Shoe Parts (BD) Ltd., representing their respective organizations. The event was overseen by BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain.
The agreement outlines that Yeijer Shoe Parts (BD) Ltd. will produce 3 million pairs of insoles, 1.2 million pairs of outsoles, 3.2 million pairs of midsoles, and 1 million pairs of PU shoes annually. This initiative is projected to generate employment for 500 Bangladeshi nationals, providing a significant boost to local employment.
BEPZA Executive Chairman expressed a warm welcome to Yeijer Shoe Parts (BD) Ltd. and assured the company of comprehensive support from BEPZA to ensure seamless operations within the zone. He reiterated BEPZA's commitment to attracting varied investments beyond the traditional RMG sector.
The signing ceremony was graced by the presence of several dignitaries, including Abdullah Al Mamun, Member (Engineering); Md. Khorshid Alam, Executive Director (Enterprise Services); Samir Biswas, Executive Director (Administration); Khadiza Parvin, Executive Director- Additional Charge (Public Relations); along with senior BEPZA officials and company representatives.
