Dhaka: The bodies of four expatriate brothers who tragically died in Oman have been brought back to Bangladesh. The remains of the brothers arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at around 8:15 pm on Tuesday via a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the brothers-Rashedul Islam, Sahedul Islam, Md Siraj, and Md Shahid-died on May 12 in the Al Muladdah area of Al Batinah South Governorate in Oman. The incident reportedly occurred after they inhaled carbon monoxide gas from a vehicle's air-conditioning exhaust while they were sleeping inside the car.
Rangunia MP Humam Quader Chowdhury was present at the airport to receive the bodies and hand them over to the relatives of the deceased. As a gesture of support, each of the families received Tk 35,000 from the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment to aid with transportation and burial expenses.
The bodies were subsequently transported to Rangunia upazila in Chattogram early Wednesday, where they will be laid to rest beside the Bandherajapara Jam e Mosque. Meanwhile, the Royal Oman Police have initiated an investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
