Dhaka: Sunshine Outdoor (BD) Co Ltd, a company based in the British Virgin Islands and Hong Kong, is prepared to invest US$ 15 million to set up a tent and camping manufacturing facility at the BEPZA Economic Zone (BEPZA EZ) in Mirsharai, Chattogram. An agreement formalizing this investment was signed on Wednesday at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka between the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) and the company.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the lease agreement was signed by Md Tanvir Hossain, Executive Director (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA, and Liang Difa, Chairman of Sunshine Outdoor. The signing ceremony was witnessed by BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain.
The new facility is projected to produce 1.5 million pieces of outdoor products annually. These products include tents, canopies, bags, duffel bags, waterproof dry bags, sleeping bags, backpacks, tarpaulins, inflatable pillows and mattresses, air pillows, mosquito nets, carpets, mats, folding chairs, and various types of bins and baskets.
The venture is anticipated to create employment opportunities for 2,975 Bangladeshi nationals. The Executive Chairman of BEPZA expressed gratitude to Sunshine Outdoor for selecting Bangladesh, particularly the BEPZA Economic Zone, as its investment destination. He assured them of BEPZA’s full cooperation to ensure smooth and successful business operations in the zone. He also highlighted that this investment will further promote BEPZA’s efforts towards export diversification.
