Joypurhat: A farm worker was killed after a hay-laden locally made vehicle lost control and overturned in Joypurhat.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the deceased was identified as Mehedi Hasan, 23, son of Rezaul Karim from Burail village in Khetlal upazila. He was employed at a cattle farm in Helkunda village of Sadar upazila.
The tragic accident took place in the Helkunda Bazar area within Joypurhat Sadar upazila on Monday afternoon. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Joypurhat Sadar Police Station, Nure Alam, confirmed that Mehedi had purchased hay from Joypurhat town and was transporting it to the farm using a locally made vehicle known as ‘votvoti’ to feed cattle.
The vehicle unexpectedly lost control and overturned in the Helkunda Bazar area, resulting in critical injuries to Mehedi. He was immediately rescued and taken to Joypurhat General Hospital, where doctors on duty declared him dead.
