Bogura: Two cousins were killed in a clash over a land dispute at Laxmipur village in Shibganj upazila of Bogura district on Monday. The deceased were identified as Yeasin Ali, 33, son of Jamil Uddin, and Sumon Molla, 35, son of Mofazzal Hossain Molla of the upazila.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Shahinuzzman, Officer-in-Charge of Shibganj Police Station, reported that Yeasin and his uncle Rezaul Mandal had ongoing disagreements regarding the ownership of a piece of land. The longstanding tension between the two parties erupted into an altercation around 8:30 am on Monday.
During the confrontation, members of both groups engaged in a violent clash, resulting in Yeasin’s death at the scene and serious injuries to Sumon. Sumon was transported to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital, where medical personnel pronounced him dead.
Following the incident, police arrived at the location and apprehended Rabbi Mandal, 27, son of Rezaul Mandal. To maintain order and prevent any further incidents, additional police forces have been stationed in the area.
