Dhaka: Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain today visited injured physician Dr Nasir Uddin at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). During the visit, the minister inquired about the health condition of Dr Nasir, who was attacked while on duty at Shariatpur Sadar Hospital, and spoke with his family members.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sakhawat stated that attacks on doctors while performing their duties are unacceptable under any circumstances. He warned that strict action would be taken against those involved in the attack. The minister also urged the relevant physicians to ensure the proper treatment of Dr Nasir.
It is notable that on the night of May 15, Dr. Nasir Islam, the duty doctor at Shariatpur Sadar Hospital, was attacked following the death of a patient from a heart attack. He suffered critical injuries in the incident and was subsequently admitted to the ICU of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
