Govt is Advancing in Implementing Election Pledges: Zakaria Taher

Barura: Housing and Public Works Minister Zakaria Taher today said the government is implementing its election pledges and will bring a larger number of families under the ‘Family Card’ programme by next year. He made the remarks while addressing a women’s rally at Barura Upazila Parishad auditorium here as the chief guest.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the government is taking various welfare initiatives including the expansion of agricultural support programmes, loan waivers for farmers, canal excavation, tree plantation, and ensuring transport facilities for women. Minister Taher highlighted that these efforts aim to strengthen the rural economy and make agriculture more profitable and sustainable.



He further noted that public awareness is being raised on these issues in line with the election manifesto such as preventing drug abuse, misinformation, and child marriage along with initiatives like Family Card, Farmer Cards, agricultural loan waivers, tree plantation, transport facilities for women, and canal re-excavation.



Barura Upazila Nirbahi Officer Asaduzzaman Roni presided over the event, while Officer-in-Charge of Burura Police Station Nazmul Hasan, former Female Vice Chairman Shahina Momtaz, and educationist Kohinur Kanta were present as special guests. The welcome speech was delivered by Senior Information Officer Mohammad Nurul Haque of the Cumilla District Information Office. The programme was jointly organised by the Cumilla District Information Office and Burura Upazila Administration.
