Dhaka: Six more children have succumbed to measles and measles-like symptoms across the nation within the last 24 hours. This includes one confirmed case of measles and five cases with measles-like symptoms.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has reported that the number of suspected measles cases nationwide reached 1,274 over the same period, with 243 patients confirmed to have contracted measles. The cumulative total of suspected measles cases from March 15 to May 17 has now climbed to 57,846.
The DGHS press release indicates a regional breakdown of suspected cases in the past 24 hours: 633 in Dhaka Division, 69 in Rajshahi Division, 228 in Chattogram Division, 118 in Barishal Division, 41 in Mymensingh Division, 80 in Sylhet Division, 89 in Khulna Division, and 16 in Rangpur Division. Additionally, 243 confirmed measles cases were recorded during the same time, contributing to a total of 7,767 confirmed cases since March 15.
To date, the death toll from confirmed measles infections stands at 75. With two additional fatalities from suspected measles reported in the last 24 hours, the total number of deaths from suspected measles has increased to 384.
Dhaka Division remains the most affected area, with 26,124 suspected measles cases, of which 5,441 have been confirmed as measles.
