Dhaka: Indian acting High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pawankumar Badhe has emphasized that the revered poets Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam hold an equally cherished place in the hearts of people in both Bangladesh and India. He spoke at a function on Thursday evening, underscoring the enduring love and respect for these poets as a strong symbol of the shared cultural heritage between the two nations.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the event was organized at the Bangladesh National Museum by Itihash O Oitijjo Parishad in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi Culture Centre, cultural school Tapoban, Nrityanchal, and bahumatrik.com, to commemorate the birth anniversaries of Rabindranath and Nazrul. A highlight of the evening was 'Nrityagiti', a dance-music tableau directed by renowned artists Shamim Ara Nipa and Shibli Mohammad of Nrityanchal. The performance showcased a synthesis of the musical and philosophical legacies of the poets through group dances set to 14 popular songs by Rabindranath and Nazrul.
The event also featured Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury as the chief guest, with Prof Niranjan Adhikari presiding over the session. Presentations were delivered by Prof Dr Tarik Manzur from Dhaka University and Professor Ahmed Reza from Jahangirnagar University. Additionally, the event included an exhibition of portraits of Rabindranath and Nazrul, created by over a hundred students from 13 schools in Dhaka and its surrounding areas. Certificates of recognition were awarded to the young artists at the conclusion of the program.
