Kishoreganj: A four-tier security arrangement will be implemented for the upcoming 199th Eid-ul-Azha congregation at the historic Sholakia Eidgah in Kishoreganj district. The main congregation is scheduled to begin at 9 am at the Sholakia Eidgah maidan.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the decision was made during a preparatory meeting held on Wednesday morning in the conference room of the deputy commissioner’s office in Kishoreganj. The meeting was attended by representatives from the local administration, law enforcement agencies, Islamic Foundation Bangladesh, and the organising committee, who discussed overall preparations and security measures for the congregation.
To ensure smooth and secure participation of devotees, police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Ansar members, and volunteers will be deployed. The security measures will include the installation of CCTV cameras in and around the Eidgah ground, the construction of watchtowers, frisking at entry points, and arrangements for emergency medical services.
In line with long-standing tradition, the Eid jamaat will commence at 9 am with three ceremonial gunshots. This year, the prayers will be led by Mufti Abul Khair Mohammad Saifullah, the khatib of the district’s Boro Bazar Jame Mosque. The Sholakia Eid jamaat, known as one of the country’s largest Eid congregations, boasts nearly two centuries of tradition, attracting hundreds of thousands of devotees annually.
