Gazipur: Gazipur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Nurul Karim Bhuiyan today emphasized the importance of personal awareness and responsible behavior in efforts to protect the environment and control pollution. He highlighted how everyday habits and personal conduct play a crucial role in environmental protection during a discussion held at the Bhawal Conference Room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the DC shared his personal practice of keeping used tissues in his pocket until a designated dustbin is found, underscoring a practical approach to environmental responsibility. The meeting was organized under a project of the Department of Environment called “Strengthening the Capacity of Monitoring and Enforcement Wing for Environmental Protection, Quality Improvement and Pollution Control.”
Director General of the Department of Environment Dr Md Lutfor Rahman attended the event as the chief guest. The DC criticized behaviors that contribute to pollution and urged the public to cultivate good habits and uphold human values to foster an environment-friendly society.
Speakers at the event pointed out the adverse effects of climate change, air pollution, and plastic waste, while stressing the need for tree plantation and adopting eco-friendly lifestyles.
