Health Minister Announces Upgradation of Gournadi Upazila Health Complex to 100 Beds

Barishal: Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain today announced that the Gournadi Upazila Health Complex in Barishal would be upgraded from 50 beds to 100 beds. “Healthcare institutions across the country are being modernized as part of electoral pledge. The government is considering establishing a modern trauma centre in Gournadi and upgrading the Gournadi Upazila Health Complex to 100 bed facility,” he said. He made the announcement while visiting the health complex and exchanging views with concerned officials this afternoon.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister also stated that effective measures would soon be taken to reopen the Mother and Child Centre located at Goynaghat. He emphasized the importance of ensuring sufficient rabies vaccine supply with urgency and directed the authorities accordingly.



During the visit, the minister inspected different sections of the hospital and interacted with doctors, nurses, and patients. He provided necessary directives to improve the quality of healthcare services. Barishal Deputy Commissioner Khairul Alam Sumon, Civil Surgeon Monjur E Elahi, Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Shawkat Ali, and Gournadi Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Ibrahim were present during the visit.



Local health officials, journalists, Gournadi Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Tariq Hasan Russell, and Gournadi Press Club President Jahurul Islam Jahir also attended the event.
