Dhaka: Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Houssain (Kaikobad) today called upon all to remain vigilant to maintain the continuity of democracy in the country. “The government is doing very good work and many people cannot tolerate this. You must keep your eyes and ears open and identify those who want to strangle democracy,” he said. He made the call while speaking as the chief guest at a BSRF Dialogue organised by the Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters Forum (BSRF) at the media centre of the Secretariat this afternoon.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister responded to media queries by highlighting the government’s recent initiatives, including the introduction of agriculture cards for farmers, family cards for poor women, and the waiver of agricultural loans up to Taka 10,000, including interest. “No government since the country’s independence had accomplished so much within such a short period after assuming office,” he stated.

The minister also addressed the issue of low participation of women in journalism, assuring overall support for female journalists and welcoming constructive criticism from the media. Additionally, he urged journalists to play a vocal role against drug lords and ensure that no innocent individual becomes a victim of oppression.
