Zubaida Rahman Advocates for Women Entrepreneurs at PUNAK Event

Dhaka: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, has highlighted the importance of encouraging women entrepreneurs to establish small, cottage, and medium industries. Her remarks, made during the annual gathering and fair of the Bangladesh Police Women’s Welfare Association (PUNAK) at Rajarbagh Police Lines on the occasion of Police Week 2026, emphasized promoting women based on merit to achieve self-reliance.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Zubaida Rahman asserted the necessity of providing women with training, development opportunities, and marketing support. She believes these measures would increase family prosperity, ensure children’s education, and assist in achieving poverty alleviation goals. As the chief guest at the event, she acknowledged the significant contributions of PUNAK members to society through their dedicated efforts, noting that they guide the next generation toward societal contribution.



Zubaida Rahman further stated that collective contributions in respective fields could help build the desired society. She emphasized the central role women can play in family welfare and social progress by participating in healthcare and rural development, which would also ensure the safety and development of girl children.



The event was attended by notable guests, including the home minister’s spouse Hasina Ahmed, home affairs senior secretary’s spouse Rawshan Ara Shilpi, and Cultural Affairs Secretary Kaniz Moula. PUNAK Vice-President Sabina Awlad chaired the session. Scholarships and certificates were distributed among meritorious students and computer trainees, with PUNAK Satkhira chapter winning first place in the fair, Rajshahi chapter second, and Lalmonirhat third.



Zubaida Rahman presented the certificates and prizes to outstanding students and representatives of winning PUNAK stalls. The program concluded with a colorful cultural event.
