Rajshahi: Professor Farid Uddin Khan, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) of Rajshahi University (RU), inaugurated the 'Molecular Biology, Genomics and Protein Research Lab' at the Department of Microbiology today. The ceremony was attended by Professor Golam Mortuza, Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences, as the special guest, along with other distinguished faculty members including Professor Mostafizur Rahman Mondal, Professor Khandaker Md. Mozaffor Hossain, Proctor Professor Md. Mahbubur Rahman, and Professor Imtiaz Hasan among others.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the inauguration event also featured the distribution of certificates to students who participated in a four-day workshop titled 'Laboratory Safety and Technique of Molecular Biology: A Foundation Workshop'. Trainers who played a significant role in conducting the workshop were honored with crests as a token of appreciation for their contributions.
The new research facility, as highlighted by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor during the inauguration, is expected to usher in new opportunities for molecular biology and genomics research within Bangladesh. It holds the potential to significantly impact the biotechnology sector in the country by facilitating advanced research and innovation.
