Paba: A ‘Farmers’ Partner Congress’ meeting with the theme ‘Agriculture is Prosperity’ for the 2025-26 fiscal year was held in Paba Upazila of the district. The meeting took place today in the Upazila Parishad conference room, with Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon, MP, serving as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting was presided over by Paba Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Ibnul Abedin, with Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist M.A. Mannan delivering the welcome address. Paba Upazila BNP Member Secretary Abdur Razzak, Joint Convener Sultan Ahmed, Upazila Statistics Officer Faruk Hossain, and Upazila Cooperatives Officer Sultanul Islam also spoke at the event. Officials from various departments, public representatives, and farmer representatives were present on the occasion.
Addressing the farmers, lawmaker Milon emphasized the necessity of modernizing the agriculture sector for sustainable development. He stressed that agriculture must become technology-dependent to strengthen the country’s economic foundation. Milon highlighted the importance of protecting soil health, ensuring balanced fertilizer use, and being cautious with pesticide use, stating that eco-friendly farming practices form the foundation of future agriculture.
He further stated that enhancing farmers’ skills, providing regular training, and expanding the use of technology at the field level are crucial to increasing agricultural production and ensuring food security. Milon also noted that production can be significantly increased through improved seeds, proper fertilizer management, and scientific cultivation methods. He emphasized that agriculture is no longer limited to traditional farming practices; it has evolved into a commercial and technology-driven sector, urging farmers to engage more with modern agricultural technology.
