Dhaka: Seven more patients have died from measles and measles-like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). Of these, two were confirmed measles cases while five others exhibited measles-like symptoms.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during the same period, 1,281 new suspected measles cases were reported nationwide, while 373 confirmed patients were admitted to hospitals, as stated in a DGHS press release. A total of 30,885 suspected measles patients have been admitted to hospitals so far. Of these, 27,223 have recovered and been discharged after receiving treatment.
Since March 15, a total of 324 children have died from measles and measles-like symptoms across the country. This includes 56 confirmed measles deaths and 268 deaths from suspected cases. The DGHS further reported that the highest number of suspected cases has been reported in the Dhaka division, with 20,073 cases, of which 3,984 were confirmed measles infections.
