Dhaka: Begum Jebunnesa, mother of Social Welfare, Women and Children Affairs Minister Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, passed away today. She was 83. She breathed her last at 5:38 AM at a city hospital while undergoing treatment. She had been suffering from old age complications, said a ministry release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Begum Jebunnesa, who was professionally a teacher, is survived by two sons, two daughters, and numerous relatives and admirers who mourn her death. Her Namaz-e-Janaza will take place after Asar prayer today at the Mymensingh Eidgah premises. Following the Janaza, she will be buried at the Gulkibari family graveyard beside the grave of her husband Jafar Ali Sarker.
Begum Jebunnesa was born in 1944 into a respected Muslim family in Gafargaon, Mymensingh district. Her children have requested the public to pray to almighty Allah for the eternal peace of her departed soul.
BNP Secretary General and Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed profound sorrow and grief over the passing of Jebunnesa. In his condolence message, Mirza Fakhrul stated, “Like her bereaved family, I am deeply saddened by the death of Begum Jebunnesa. As a teacher, she was committed to her profession. She was an ideal woman who raised her children with proper education and helped them become established in life.” Fakhrul Islam prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed heartfelt sympathy to her family, relatives, admirers, and well-wishers.
State Minister for Social Welfare Farzana Sharmin, Social Welfare Secretary Dr. Mohammad Abu Yusuf, and Women and Children Affairs Secretary Yasmin Parveen also expressed their condolences over the death of Begum Jebunnesa.
