Naogaon: At least three people, including two farmers, were killed in separate lightning strike incidents in Niamatpur and Mahadevpur upazilas of the district on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahbubur Rahman of Niamatpur Police Station confirmed that two people died in lightning strikes in the upazila. One unidentified laborer was killed instantly while harvesting paddy in a field of Hajinagar union. The victim was a resident of the Khaser Hat Uthapara area.
In another incident in the same upazila, Anukul Chandra Mahanta, 22, died after being struck by lightning while working in a paddy field at Ramnagar village.
Besides, in Mahadevpur upazila, farmer Dilip Chandra Barman, 35, was killed in a lightning strike while working in a field at Kurapara village under Khajur union, confirmed Officer-in-Charge Omar Faruk of Mahadevpur Police Station.
