Dhaka: The Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust has initiated the application process for one-time medical grants aimed at supporting poor and meritorious students who have been seriously injured in accidents. This initiative is set to benefit students studying from Class VI up to the undergraduate or equivalent levels. The application period for the May-June 2026 phase starts today and will close on June 30.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the stipend wing of the trust issued a notice revealing that applicants must submit their applications online via the e-Medical Grant Management System, accessible at https://www.eservice.pmeat.gov.bd/medical, by 11:59 pm on June 30.

To qualify for the grant, students must have secured at least 60 percent marks in their previous class. Additionally, those who have taken the SSC and HSC examinations should have a minimum GPA of 3.50 out of 5.00, while undergraduate students need to have a GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00. Eligibility extends to children of employees in grades 13 to 20 working in government, semi-government, and autonomous institutions. Other applicants must come from families with an annual income below Tk 200,000.

Applicants are required to submit a medical certificate confirming a “serious injury,” which must be issued by a civil surgeon or a physician from a government hospital. The application must be submitted within one year of the accident. The grant money will be directly transferred to the bank account of the student or their guardian, hence applicants are advised to provide an active bank account and a correct mobile number. Hard copies are not required for this online application process.

The notice further states that if a student is unable to find their educational institution within the application system, the institution’s head must apply to the trust with the necessary information for database inclusion. The assistance will adhere to the guidelines for providing one-time financial grants to poor and meritorious students who have been seriously injured in accidents.
