Lalpur: State Minister for Social Welfare Farzana Sharmin today announced that the government is working tirelessly to bring the country back on track of sustainable development. “The current government is tirelessly working to move the country away from the path of destruction and for this, extensive development works are ongoing across the country to ensure inclusive and sustainable development,” she stated.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the state minister made these remarks while inaugurating a canal re-excavation project at Salampur under Lalpur upazila. The initiative is part of a larger effort to excavate and re-excavate 30,000 kilometers of canals across the country, aimed at fostering sustainable development in various areas.
She emphasized that the canal re-excavation process not only provides employment opportunities for local residents but also enhances irrigation facilities for agricultural lands. She noted, “Government initiatives alone would not be adequate. Collective effort and joint participation are a must for inclusive and sustainable development.”
The state minister also expressed a firm determination to make the area free from crime, urging residents to provide information about drug traders to assist the administration in ensuring smooth public movement.
The inauguration programme was presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Julhas Hossain Sourav. Other notable attendees included Lalpur thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shafiqul Islam, former member secretary of Lalpur Upazila BNP Harunur Rashid Pappu, former convener of Gopalpur Municipality BNP Nazrul Islam, and former joint convener of Lalpur Upazila BNP Siddique Ali Mistu, along with former joint convener Hamidur Rahman Babu.
