Khulna: The election of the executive committee of the Khulna University Journalists’ Association (KUJA) for the year 2026 was successfully conducted on Thursday. Md. Ibrahim Khalil, who serves as the Khulna University correspondent for The Daily Amar Desh, secured the position of president, while Nahid Hasan from The Daily Jugantor was elected as general secretary.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the results were declared in the afternoon by Chief Election Commissioner Professor Dr Md Ashik Ur Rahman at the association’s office, following the conclusion of the voting process. The newly appointed committee also includes several other key positions: Vice-President Sanzida Akter, Joint General Secretary Fahad Khandakar, Organising Secretary Md Abid Hasan, Treasurer Zahida Sultana Rima, Office Secretary Mahmud Sheikh, and Publication and Publicity Secretary Md Maruf Ahmed. The executive committee further comprises members Yusuf Sadiq, Mehedi Hasan, and Sohan Sakib.
The announcement ceremony was attended by both former and current association members, marking a significant moment for the organization. The election process was overseen by Assistant Professor Majidul Islam from the Mass Communication and Journalism Discipline and Associate Professor Dr Md Tarek Bin Salam from the Soil, Water and Environment Discipline, who acted as assistant election commissioners.
