Dhaka: The government has announced that fuel prices will remain unchanged in May, despite a rise in the international market. The decision was communicated to the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) by the Energy and Mineral Resources Division through an official letter sent on Thursday.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the current retail pricing structure will see per litre diesel being sold at Tk115, kerosene at Tk130, octane at Tk140, and petrol at Tk135. This decision comes after the government previously increased fuel prices on April 18, aligning with the surge in global fuel costs.
The recent escalation of tensions in the Middle East, following joint attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran, has led to instability in global energy markets. Despite these challenges, the government has opted to maintain the status quo in fuel pricing to mitigate domestic economic impacts.
