Khulna: Vice-Chancellor of the Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), Professor Dr. Muhammad Masud, emphasized that fire safety is not just a formal training issue but an integral part of everyday awareness, responsibility, and preparedness. He highlighted the importance of ensuring the safety of students, teachers, officers, and employees as both a moral and institutional obligation during his address.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Professor Dr. Masud made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at a day-long fire safety training programme organized by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at KUET. The event was presided over by IQAC Director Professor Dr. A.B.M. Awlad Hossain and conducted by IQAC Deputy Director Professor Dr. Md. Rizvi Kaisar.
The Vice-Chancellor pointed out that such training programmes offer both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to help participants respond effectively during emergencies. He stressed that many accidents could be avoided through prior awareness and proper preparation.
He urged participants to remain vigilant about fire hazards, adhere to safety regulations, and become proficient in using firefighting equipment. Professor Dr. Masud also encouraged attendees to apply the knowledge gained from the training in real-life situations, emphasizing that a safe, aware, and accident-free campus can be achieved if everyone acts responsibly.
He commended IQAC for organizing the timely initiative and underscored the necessity of continuing similar programmes in the future. The training programme saw the participation of 40 teachers from various departments of the university.
