Dhaka: Textiles and Jute Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir announced today that the government has decided to reopen six jute mills under private initiatives within the next six months. The announcement was made during a press conference held at the ministry's conference room at the secretariat.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the decision followed an emergency meeting with stakeholders to discuss the status of closed jute mills, factory reopening, and leasing options. The meeting took place in the ministry's meeting room earlier in the day. State Minister for Textiles and Jute Md Shariful Alam and BIDA Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun were among those present.
During the press conference, the minister emphasized that the government plans to reopen or lease the remaining closed jute mills in phases. This move is expected to boost investment and exports while simultaneously creating employment opportunities.
