Rajshahi: As a new initiative by the Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) to enhance the greening and beautification of the metropolis, tree planting activities have begun using tubs and drums on road dividers of various important roads in the city.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, trees have been planted in tubs and drums along the median from Dorikhorbona Mor to Nazmul Haque School Mor roundabout. This afternoon, RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton inspected this greening and beautification initiative.

Under this program, suitable and aesthetically pleasing trees of different species are being installed in a planned manner on road dividers using tubs and drums. This will enhance the city’s beauty on one hand, and contribute to maintaining environmental balance on the other.

This initiative of planting trees in tubs and drums is especially for roads where planting directly in the ground is not possible. This allows for easy maintenance of the trees and relocation as needed.

Regarding this, Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton stated that the greening and beautification program will be expanded gradually to more roads and important areas of the city. With the cooperation of citizens, if this initiative is successfully implemented, Rajshahi will become a greener, cleaner, and more aesthetic city.

During the inspection, RCC Superintending Engineer Ahmad Al Main Parag, Revenue Officer Sarwar Hossain Khokon, Urban Planner Boni Ahsan, Environment Section Officer-in-Charge Farhad Hossain Adnan, and other concerned officials were present.
