Dhaka: Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam tonight inaugurated the “Makkah Route” initiative at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA), aiming to streamline pre-departure procedures for Hajj pilgrims and ensure smoother travel to Saudi Arabia.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was attended by State Minister Md Rashiduzzaman Millat and Saudi Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr Abdullah ibn Dhafer ibn Ubayya. The inauguration took place at 9:00 pm, marking a significant step towards facilitating easier travel for pilgrims.

Following the launch, the minister and the state minister engaged with the pilgrims, exchanging floral greetings and seeking their prayers. The “Makkah Route” initiative, introduced by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, allows pilgrims to complete immigration, passport verification, and health checks in their home country prior to departure, thereby significantly easing travel procedures.
