Pabna: Lawmaker of Pabna-5 constituency Advocate Shamsur Rahman Simul Biswas today inaugurated the re-excavation work of a 10-kilometre canal of the Ratnai River at Shankarpur area under Maligachha union in Sadar upazila. On the occasion, a programme was arranged at a local mosque with Deputy Commissioner Aminul Islam in the chair.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, officials of the local administration, water development board, political leaders, and journalists were present at the event. Former Sadar Upazila BNP general secretary Rehanul Islam Bulal conducted the programme.
Lawmaker Simul urged officials to perform their duties above party lines and ensure citizens’ services. He emphasized the need for coordinated efforts among government, administration, and political and social forces for sustainable development. In his address, he highlighted that the canal re-excavation would reduce water logging, boost agriculture, and protect the environment.
