Dhaka: Five more people have died of measles in the country in the last 24 hours, with two of these deaths suspected to have been caused by the disease, according to the latest report from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a total of 1,115 new suspected measles cases were identified across the country in the past 24 hours, with 127 cases confirmed through laboratory testing. Between March 15 and April 17, 3,192 measles cases have been confirmed, while 21,467 individuals have been identified as suspected cases.
In the same period, 11,243 patients have recovered and returned home from hospitals. Since March 15, a total of 37 people have died from confirmed measles infections, while 174 deaths have been reported among suspected cases. The highest number of suspected cases has been reported in the Dhaka Division, with 9,274 infections, including 1,965 confirmed cases.
