Khulna: Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju today inspected drainage systems in several parts of the city, including Daulatpur Bazar, as part of preparations to prevent waterlogging ahead of the monsoon. Beginning in the morning, he visited canals and drains in the Daulatpur area to assess water discharge conditions and identify necessary improvements. The initiative aims to formulate an effective action plan before the rainy season.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Manju spoke to journalists and local residents, emphasizing that several initiatives must be completed before the monsoon to ensure a clean and livable city. He stressed the need to upgrade the drainage network alongside improving market management and sanitation facilities. He also highlighted the importance of consulting market management committees, adding that the renovation of existing markets and construction of new ones would be included in the upcoming budget.
During the visit, the administrator inspected Daulatpur Bazar, nearby river areas, the wholesale vegetable market, drainage at Pabla Karikor Para, drains near the BGB office, and a local canal. He urged small businessmen to keep footpaths free from encroachment to ensure smooth pedestrian movement. KCC Chief Engineer Mashiuzzaman Khan, among others, was present during the visit.
