Re-digging of Two Canals Begins in Jhenaidah to Boost Agricultural Productivity

Jhenaidah: The re-digging ceremony of two canals in Harinakundu, located in the Jhenaidah district, was inaugurated at the Joradah Union Parishad premises today. The initiative marks a significant step in the government’s broader efforts to enhance irrigation, water management, and agricultural productivity in the region.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the re-excavation project was officially launched by Jhenaidah District Council Administrator Advocate MA Majid, who served as the chief guest during the inauguration ceremony held at 10 am. A press release issued this afternoon confirmed the commencement of work on the Canal of Joradah Union in Harinakundu Upazila and the Kesmat Ghoragachha Canal in Kapashatia Union.



The programme was presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Didarul Alam. The event was attended by various notable figures, including Upazila BNP President Abul Hossain Master, General Secretary Taizal Hossain, and Upazila Project Implementation Officer Azizur Rahman. Leaders and activists from the BNP and its affiliated bodies, as well as representatives from different professions, were present to witness the ceremony.



During the event, Chief Guest Advocate MA Majid highlighted the progress Bangladesh is making under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s leadership. He emphasized the government’s commitment to fulfilling electoral pledges, including initiatives like the introduction of small agricultural loan waivers, farmer cards, and family cards to support the agricultural sector.
