Jashore: Two people were killed after being hit by a train in the Sardar Mill area under Abhaynagar upazila this morning. One of the deceased was identified as Karunakanta Mondal, 90, a former teacher at Panchbaria Government Primary School in Manirampur upazila and a resident of Alipur village of the upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the incident occurred on the Jashore-Khulna railway line around 10 am. The two individuals were struck by the Jashore-bound Rupsha Express train, as reported by SM Nuruzzaman, the Officer-in-Charge of Abhaynagar Police Station.
Local residents quickly responded to the accident, rushing to the scene to assist. The injured individuals were taken to Abhaynagar Upazila Health Complex, where they unfortunately succumbed to their injuries.
Nawapara Railway Station Master Yasir Arafat confirmed the incident and stated that the railway police are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
