Rajshahi: Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon today emphasized the importance of utilizing modern technology, specifically CCTV cameras, to monitor examination centers and classrooms. He highlighted the feasibility of observing exam centers similarly to global activities observed from home.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister addressed an exchange meeting with center secretaries from the Rajshahi Education Board, Madrasa Education Board, and Technical Education Board at the Dr. Kaiser Rahman Chowdhury Auditorium of Rajshahi Medical College. He reflected on past measures against cheating, noting the effective cooperation between the government and local teachers during examinations, which made strict supervision achievable.

Dr. Milon stressed that teachers alone cannot ensure discipline without administrative cooperation, advocating for a coordinated approach to restore a proper academic environment. He announced government plans to address the use of electronic devices and other irregularities during examinations, with a primary focus on introducing CCTV surveillance.

The minister clarified that CCTV installation is not solely for examinations but also to address complaints about irregular class attendance in polytechnic institutions. He noted that both students and teachers have raised concerns, highlighting the need for monitoring to verify class conduct and attendance.

He proposed installing cameras in all classrooms to allow authorities in Dhaka or Rajshahi to ensure classes are conducted properly. The initiative aims to verify teachers’ punctuality and students’ attentiveness, with additional plans to install CCTV cameras in examination halls.

The meeting, organized by the Rajshahi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, was chaired by its Chairman Prof A N M Mofakhkharul Islam. Special guests included Member of Parliament Shafiqul Haque Milon, Rajshahi City Corporation Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, Divisional Commissioner Dr. A N M Bozlur Rashid, and Rajshahi Zila Parishad Administrator Ershad Ali Isha.

Earlier, Dr. Milon attended a seminar at the Shaheed Osman Bin Hadi Auditorium of Rajshahi Polytechnic Institute as the chief guest for the Regional Skills and Innovation Competition, where he also interacted with teachers and students.
