Govt to Launch Dialysis Services in 59 Hospitals by Next Year

Dhaka: Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Husain announced an initiative to expand dialysis services in government hospitals nationwide, aiming to introduce these services in 59 hospitals by 2027. He made this statement in response to a written question in Parliament posed by treasury bench member S.M. Jahangir Hossain from the Dhaka-18 constituency.



According to United News of Bangladesh, the initiative involves a project titled ‘Upgradation of existing kidney dialysis centres to 50-bed capacity in medical college hospitals and establishment of 10-bed kidney dialysis centres in district Sadar hospitals (1st revised)’. This project is currently being implemented under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.



The project includes infrastructure development along with the supply and procurement of medical equipment. These efforts are presently underway in 15 medical college hospitals and 44 district Sadar hospitals throughout the country.



The minister stated that upon the project’s completion by December 2027, kidney treatment will become more accessible and affordable for patients at both divisional and district levels.
