Dhaka: The Jatiya Sangsad (JS) today passed several bills, including the Representation of the People (Amendment) Bill, 2026 and the Electoral Rolls (Amendment) Bill, 2026. These efforts aim to convert ordinances issued during the interim government into formal laws. Law Minister Md. Asaduzzaman presented the bills in Parliament, and Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal, who was presiding over the session, subsequently piloted the bills through voice votes.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the bills were approved by voice votes, reflecting a consensus within the all-party parliamentary special committee to accept the ordinances as promulgated during the interim government. Among the other bills passed today were the Delimitation of Parliamentary Constituency Bill, 2026; the Election Commission Secretariat (Amendment) Bill, 2026; the Election Officer (Special Provision) (Amendment) Bill, 2026; the National Parliament Secretariat (Interim Special Provision) (Repeal) Bill, 2026; and the Bangladesh Law Officers (Amendment) Bill, 2026.
In addition to the approved bills, the Law Minister introduced four more bills to the Jatiya Sangsad. These include the Supreme Court Judges Appointment (Repeal) Bill, 2026; the Supreme Court Secretariat (Repeal) Bill, 2026; the National Human Rights Commission (Repeal and Restoration) Bill, 2026; and the Land Use Control and Agriculture Land Protection Bill, 2026.
