Dhaka: The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) today approved five development projects with an estimated total cost of Tk 483.43 crore. The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to advancing infrastructure and healthcare facilities across the nation.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the approval was granted during the 9th ECNEC meeting of the 2025-26 fiscal year, marking the first meeting under the current government. The session, presided over by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, was held at the Cabinet Division conference room in the city.
The projects, which will draw Tk 390.84 crore from the government exchequer and Tk 92.59 crore from project loans or grants, include significant revisions and funding enhancements. The General Social Infrastructure Development Project-2, managed by the Local Government Engineering Department, has its budget increased to Tk 1,450 crore, aiming for completion by June 2027.
In contrast, the Char Development and Settlement Project-4 has reduced its total cost to Tk 30.7186 crore. Meanwhile, the IT Training and Incubation Center project received a budget increase to Tk 533.5492 crore and is scheduled to continue through June 2026.
Additional funding has been allocated to the Modernization of Diagnostic Imaging Facilities, raising its budget to Tk 1,213.7050 crore with an extended timeline to June 2028. The Establishment of Gopalganj Dental College and Hospital has also seen a cost increase, bringing its total budget to Tk 139.3093 crore, with a target completion date of June 2026.
