Airbus Partnership Highlights Dhaka’s Commitment to EU Aviation Ties: French Ambassador

Dhaka: The French Ambassador to Bangladesh, Jean-Marc S©r©-Charlet, today emphasized that Bangladesh’s collaboration with Airbus signifies its intention to foster a long-term aviation partnership with the European Union (EU). This statement was made during a courtesy call on Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam Rita at the Secretariat, as highlighted in a press release from the French Embassy.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, State Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat was also present during the meeting, which centered on enhancing bilateral cooperation in the civil aviation sector and exploring avenues to expand existing engagements. Ambassador S©r©-Charlet noted that the Airbus partnership would not only strengthen the fleet capacity of Biman Bangladesh Airlines but also elevate Bangladesh’s overall aviation ecosystem.



The ambassador further articulated that this collaboration demonstrates Bangladesh’s desire to establish a long-term partnership with the EU in civil aviation. He praised the ongoing cooperation between Thales and the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), particularly in developing the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) and successfully transitioning the nationwide Air Traffic Management system.



He stressed the importance of ensuring a fair and level playing field to encourage greater participation of European companies in Bangladesh’s aviation sector. Referring to Airbus, the ambassador reaffirmed the European company’s dedication to supporting the development of Bangladesh’s aviation industry, highlighting the country’s strategic location between South and Southeast Asia as offering significant potential to emerge as a regional aviation hub.



Furthermore, France expressed its willingness to collaborate closely with the new government to deepen cooperation and advance opportunities in trade, investment, and aviation.
