Gazipur: Two individuals were killed and at least ten others sustained injuries when a minibus collided with a stationary truck at Konabari on the Dhaka-Tangail highway on Sunday evening. The identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed.

According to United News of Bangladesh, eyewitnesses reported that a passenger minibus from Takwa Paribahan, traveling from Chandana intersection in Gazipur to Chandra in Kaliakoir, struck the broken-down truck around 6 pm on the Konabari flyover. The collision resulted in the minibus being severely crushed, leading to the immediate deaths of two passengers and injuring at least ten others.

Rescue efforts were promptly undertaken by police, fire service personnel, and local residents, who helped transport the injured to nearby clinics and hospitals for treatment. The deceased were sent to the morgue at Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital.

The incident caused a temporary disruption in traffic on the flyover, but the vehicles involved were cleared, and normal traffic conditions resumed within an hour. Iftekhar Hossain, the officer-in-charge of GMP’s Konabari Police Station, confirmed the fatalities, stating that the process of identifying the victims is ongoing and the injured are receiving medical care.

While local witnesses suspect that three individuals may have perished in the accident, authorities have not yet confirmed this claim.
