12 Arrested in Diesel Smuggling Operation to Myanmar

Chattogram: Bangladesh Coast Guard apprehended 12 individuals, including eight Rohingya citizens, in the Patenga area for attempting to smuggle diesel to Myanmar. The operation led to the seizure of significant contraband and cash.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Coast Guard conducted the operation based on secret information at the outer anchorage area of the Bay of Bengal under the jurisdiction of Patenga police station. The operation took place at 6 am on Saturday, resulting in the capture of 6,000 liters of diesel valued at approximately Taka 6.24 lakh, alongside the confiscation of six gas cylinders, cash amounting to Taka 15,896, and the engine boat utilized for the smuggling activities.



The individuals arrested include four Bangladeshi nationals and eight Rohingya citizens. Coast Guard Media Officer Sabbir Alam Sujan confirmed the details of the operation, highlighting the thorough search conducted by the mobile court, which led to the seizure of the diesel and other materials.
