4 Sentenced to Life Imprisonment in Kushtia Murder Case

Kushtia: A court here today sentenced four individuals to life term imprisonment in a murder case in Mirpur upazila of the district in 2019. District and Sessions Judge Md Enayet Kabir Sarkar delivered the verdict at noon in the presence of the accused, Public Prosecutor Khandaker Sirajul Islam said. The court also fined each convict Taka 20,000, with an additional one-year rigorous imprisonment in default of payment. Following the announcement, three of the convicts were sent to jail, while the court ordered the arrest of the fourth who remains absconding.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the convicted individuals are Asadul Pramanik alias Kalu, son of Mohin Pramanik from Miton Paschimpara village, Habil Hossain, son of Abul Kashem, Milon, son of Omar Ali, and Abu Taher, son of Moslem Mollah, all residents of Majirhat Khapara village in Mirpur upazila. On October 20, 2019, Sahabul went out for shopping but did not return and remained missing throughout the night. The following morning, locals discovered his body in a paddy field at Nawda Azampur Mathpara, behind Burapara Primary School, and informed the police.



Police recovered the body and sent it for autopsy. On the same day, the victim’s wife, Sumi Khatun, filed a case with Mirpur Police Station. After completing the investigation, the investigating officer SM Javid Hasan submitted a charge sheet against the four accused on December 31, 2019. The court delivered its verdict after examining testimonies from 19 witnesses.
