Dhaka: Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, today paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at his Jatiya Sangsad office. The meeting took place following their attendance at the namaz-e-Janaza of Professor Dilara Hafiz, the wife of Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, at the parliament complex's South Plaza.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Prime Minister's additional press secretary, Atikur Rahman Ruman, stated that the premier welcomed the opposition leader, who is also the head of Jamaat-e-Islam, into his office. Ruman mentioned that Dr. Shafiqur Rahman expressed his eagerness to engage in dialogue with the Prime Minister as they walked together towards the Parliament building after the janaza prayers.
Ruman further elaborated that the conversation between the two leaders lasted approximately 20 minutes. Following the meeting, the Prime Minister escorted Dr. Shafiqur Rahman out of his office, demonstrating a gesture of respect consistent with his courteous nature. "Today, the Prime Minister displayed his natural courtesy towards the opposition leader as he was exiting from the office of the Leader of the House," Ruman added.
