Maltese Envoy Engages with Bangladesh Police Chief on Security and Reforms

Dhaka: A three-member delegation led by Maltese Ambassador to Bangladesh and India, Reuben Gauci, paid a courtesy call on Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir at the Police Headquarters here today.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere, where the Ambassador congratulated the newly-appointed IGP and praised the role of Bangladesh Police during the 13th National Parliament Election. He commended the force’s contribution to maintaining law and order and upholding democratic processes.



During the discussion, both sides explored opportunities for strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of visa fraud prevention, cybercrime, human trafficking, and institutional capacity building. The IGP welcomed the Ambassador and briefed him on the police force’s short, medium, and long-term plans aimed at enhancing its image and operational capacity.



He also sought Malta’s support in ongoing police reform initiatives and capacity development efforts. Senior police officials were present during the meeting.
