Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump has announced an extension of the deadline to strike Iran’s energy infrastructure, now pushing it to April 6, at the request of Tehran. This decision comes in light of ongoing discussions that the President describes as ‘going very well.’

According to United News of Bangladesh, Trump communicated this decision through a post on Truth Social, where he also criticized the ‘fake news media’ for allegedly misrepresenting the progress of the talks. Despite his optimistic outlook, Iran has reported contrasting views on the negotiations.

The situation escalated last Saturday when Trump threatened military action against Iranian energy infrastructure if Tehran did not comply with reopening the Strait of Hormuz. This was reported by The Guardian. However, on Monday, Trump extended the initial deadline by five days, citing ‘very good and productive conversations’ with Iran regarding the end of the ongoing conflict-a claim Tehran dismissed as ‘fake news’ intended to manipulate oil markets.

With the new extension, President Trump aims to provide more time for diplomatic efforts, though the tension remains high as both nations continue to present divergent narratives on the progress of the talks.
