Former BNP Lawmaker Fazlul Haque Passes Away at 79

Dhaka: Former BNP lawmaker and Hua Thai Ceramic Managing Director GM Fazlul Haque passed away due to old-age complications at a private hospital in the city last night. He was 79.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Haque had been dealing with various old-age related health issues for an extended period. He was initially receiving treatment at a hospital in Singapore, as mentioned in a press release issued today. Subsequently, he was brought back to the country and admitted to a private hospital in the capital, where he eventually passed away, the release further stated.



Haque, a prominent political figure, was elected as a lawmaker from the Chandpur-3 constituency in 1996. His contributions to politics and his role as the Managing Director of Hua Thai Ceramic marked significant aspects of his career.



Arrangements for his funeral have been made, with his Namaz-e-Janaza scheduled to be held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban South Plaza at 12 noon today. A second Namaz-e-Janaza will take place at Baburhat High School and College ground in Chandpur at 11 am tomorrow. Following the funeral rites, he will be laid to rest at his family’s graveyard.
